We are very excited to announce that Save Our Street Trees Northampton has become a constituted community group.

On August 1, at our first ever Save our Street Trees (SOST) annual general meeting, three members of the newly formed SOST committee signed our new Constitution (at a social distance!)

After four years campaigning for street trees in Northampton as just one individual and a handful of volunteers, this was an emotional milestone! This new step will allow us to better promote, protect and plant street trees in Northampton. We can also apply for funding and grants, run more activities and draw on more skills from people in the community.

This year, we will be applying for up to three grants including the Idverde Community Investement Fund and an EnviroGrant Scheme.

Members of the committee include: Chair (and founder) Alice Whitehead, Treasurer Tom Stainer and Secretary Anne Marie Tovey and Events Coordinator Lisa Greenough. But, we would love more people to get involved so please contact us if you feel you have a specific skill that would benefit the committee.

Our amazing band of exisiting Tree Wardens and volunteers automatically become members of the new community group 🙂 But, we’d love you to get in touch if you are not a member. We can send you a FREE member welcome pack for your family. This will include badges and other goodies for children, and factsheets on how you can help the campaign. We are always on the look out for more Tree Wardens in Northampton too!
